Beautiful vintage 400nn in Tortoise in excellent-near mint condition. The pen has no cracks, chips, or bite marks. There are only minute microscratches if any. Barrel has excellent transparency, and the Tortoise has beautiful shades of yellow, orange, brown. Cap and piston knob is a dark brown. The gold trim on the cap blind, clip, and clip band is in excellent condition. Pelikan logo on top of the cap is very detailed and crisp. The nib unit screws out without a fuss if you want to switch nibs. I've lightly greased the piston seal and operation is now silky smooth without any resistance. The original 14k Pelikan nib is marked a Fine, but writes more between a F/M, and has a nice springiness letting it flex a bit to BB+. The pen is in as good condition as it can be for a used vintage pen. There are no damages what so ever worth mentioning. Beautifully perserved specimen. Please check pics for a better description. Writing sample is done on .5cm light grid print on HP 24lb laserjet paper. Measurements for the pen are: 13.5cm capped, 15.2cm posted, and 12.5cm unposted.
